State Senate District 4 candidates Jaron Brandon and Alexandra Duarte went head-to-head Thursday morning on a wide range of topics, from healthcare access to immigration, during an in-person debate at Greens on Tenth in Modesto.

The event, shown above in its entirety, was sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County, The Modesto Focus and four Modesto Rotary clubs.

Brandon, a Democrat who sits on the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors, and Duarte, a staunch MAGA Republican who is married to former 13th Congressional District Rep. John Duarte, proceeded to the Nov. 3 general election by defeating Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil in the June 2 primary.

California State Senate District 4 includes Stanislaus County and also sprawls throughout the Mother Lode.
