Our contributors write opinion pieces about issues of importance and interest to the Valley. We encourage all residents of Modesto and Stanislaus County to share their thoughts and provide commentary with us. Our readers want to hear what matters to you and your neighbors. They value diverse voices, especially from those who may not have many opportunities to be heard.
If you are interested in submitting a piece for publication, please follow the guidelines below. And thank you for sharing your voice.
Guidelines:
- Subject matter must be local. Commentary should address how issues affect people in Modesto or Stanislaus County.
- Columns usually measure 500 to 800 words. Exceptions are made for compelling content.
- Include contact information (phone number and email address) so we know how to reach you.
- Your column is subject to editing for style, clarity and accuracy.
- If your piece is a group effort, feel free to include names of two or three main authors.
- Please include a full-color headshot photo (jpeg format preferred) along with a short one-sentence bio about yourself (which includes your city of residence) and send your submission with the subject line: “Modesto Focus Opinion Submission.”
