Long-serving Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Modesto) sat down for an interview with KVPR’s Central Valley Daily podcast about the ongoing government shutdown.

McClintock, who since 2009 has served as congressman for much of the Sierra Nevada region as well as parts of Stanislaus and Fresno counties, squarely blamed Democrats in the House for the shutdown which started Oct. 1.

The Republican lawmaker has done a flurry of interviews with local media this summer including the Turlock Journal, Sonora Union Democrat and Mother Lode Views. Earlier in the year, when Congress was debating the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” which he voted to pass, McClintock faced accusations from Valley constituents of not being available for town halls or staffing his Modesto office.
